Feral Pigeon – Pest Control

Pest Bird Shooting Works When All Other Methods Fail.

At Shropshire Pest Prevention, we carry out pest bird shooting programmes for commercial customers such as factories and warehouses etc, when all other means of control do not work. This swiftly deals with the current pest bird infestation, but it also ensures that the problem doesn’t simply return after a few weeks. In some cases shooting is the only way to keep pest bird populations under control. The vast majority of our shooting work is limited to feral pigeons. Feral pigeon infestations spread very quickly indeed, so what starts out as a minor problem will often quickly develop into a much bigger problem.

Feral pigeons infestations pose a direct threat to the health and wellbeing of any persons working in their presence and here are just a few of these risks below:-

  • Transmission of diseases such as histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, and psittacosis (ornithosis)
  • Attraction of ticks, mites, cockroaches and rats
  • Unpleasant odour and noise issues
  • Damage to buildings and monuments due to the highly corrosive nature of pigeon droppings
  • Extensive damage to air-conditioning units and other roof top machinery

Under current legislation we are legally allowed to shoot and remove feral pigeons in the work place under “general licence of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981”, subject to meeting the correct criteria.

How Does a Pest Bird Shooting Programme Work?

Our pest controllers use pre-charged air rifles for an accurate, quiet, and discrete approach to pest bird shooting. By using such equipment, the technicians avoid scaring off the rest of the flock and causing concern amongst your neighbours.

The pest control technicians who undertake our shooting work are all fully insured trained marksmen.
